About SYMBIOSYST SYMBIOSYST is an Horizon Europe Innovation Action, operating under grant agreement Nº 101096352, which commenced in January 2023 and is slated to continue through December 2026. This project is dedicated to forging novel synergies between solar energy generation and agricultural practices, thereby promoting a mutually beneficial relationship between these sectors. It is funded by the European Union, underscoring its European relevance and collaborative nature.

Key Objectives and Activities The project's core focus is on the design, development, and implementation of advanced agrivoltaic systems tailored for both open-field and greenhouse agriculture. SYMBIOSYST investigates innovative c-Si photovoltaic modules engineered to positively influence crop yields, offer crucial protection for land and crops, and enhance sustainability. By integrating modern precision farming concepts, the initiative aims to deliver significant advantages in terms of both agricultural production and environmental impact. The project explores two primary system architectures: Open agri-PV, designed for horticultural crops with limited vertical development and various fruit tree layouts, and Closed agri-PV, specifically for horticultural crops cultivated within Venlo type greenhouses. Furthermore, SYMBIOSYST is actively establishing a European Cross Cooperation Network to accelerate the advancement and broader adoption of agri-PV technologies across the continent.
