About the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE)

The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) is a prominent global business association dedicated to expanding sustainable electricity access, fostering job creation, and addressing climate change challenges across Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. Representing approximately 200 members spanning the entire distributed renewable energy (DRE) value chain, ARE plays a crucial role in advocating for and facilitating off-grid clean energy solutions. Its collective efforts aim to empower communities by bringing reliable and affordable clean energy to rural and underserved populations worldwide.

ARE's strategic approach is structured around four key pillars designed to advance electrification comprehensively. These include Finance for Electrification, focusing on mobilizing investments and innovative financial mechanisms; Innovation for Electrification, promoting technological advancements and sustainable business models; Markets for Electrification, working to establish enabling regulatory frameworks and market growth; and Sustainability for Electrification, ensuring long-term environmental and social benefits. Through these pillars, ARE supports a robust ecosystem for distributed renewable energy deployment.
