Bioenergy Europe, formerly known as AEBIOM, serves as the common voice for the European bioenergy sector, advocating for its sustainable development within fair business conditions. This Brussels-based international organization, founded in 1990, brings together a vast network of over 40 national associations and approximately 90 companies, alongside various academic and research institutions from across Europe, forming a comprehensive and influential platform.

The organization is pivotal in positioning bioenergy as a resilient, competitive, and foundational element of the EU's renewable energy transition. It highlights bioenergy's significant contributions to leveraging local resources, generating stable green jobs, fostering economic growth through export opportunities, and ensuring a secure energy supply. Bioenergy Europe emphasizes its essential role in achieving Europe's ambitious climate and energy objectives.

Beyond advocacy, Bioenergy Europe hosts crucial umbrella organizations, including the European Pellet Council (EPC) and the International Biomass Torrefaction Council (IBTC), which represent the specific interests of the European wood pellet and wood torrefaction industries. The association also champions and manages leading certification schemes such as ENplus® for wood pellets and SURE, ensuring robust compliance with RED II sustainability requirements for biomass utilization in electricity, heating, and cooling production.
