BlueNetCat: Fostering Innovation in Catalonia's Blue Economy

BlueNetCat serves as the pivotal Innovation and Transfer instrument of the Maritime Agenda of Catalonia, dedicated to advancing the region's blue economy. Its core mission involves incubating and accelerating scientific and technological projects that address critical marine and maritime challenges. This initiative plays a crucial role in transforming cutting-edge Catalan research into tangible solutions for both the market and society.

Coordinated by the esteemed Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), BlueNetCat stands as Europe's largest network of blue economy experts. It comprises 73 multidisciplinary research groups from seven prominent Catalan institutions, fostering a collaborative environment with over 800 members. This extensive network facilitates the transfer of knowledge and innovation across various sectors within the blue economy.

The network actively engages in programs like Maritime Hub and BlueNetCamp, an acceleration program specifically designed for blue economy projects. BlueNetCat's work encompasses diverse areas, including sustainable marine wind power solutions, the application of AI and Big Data in aquaculture, and other advanced technologies aimed at enhancing marine resource valuation and conservation. With a clear international projection, BlueNetCat positions Catalonia as a key hub for innovation, transfer, and resilience in the maritime sector.
