Cleantech San Diego is a prominent member-based business association established in 2007, dedicated to positioning the greater San Diego region, including Imperial County, as a global leader in the burgeoning cleantech economy. The association serves as a vital hub for over 130 diverse stakeholders, encompassing businesses, universities, governmental bodies, and non-profit organizations. Its core activities include leading advocacy efforts to champion cleantech priorities, supporting innovative energy entrepreneurs through initiatives like the Southern California Energy Innovation Network (SCEIN), and promoting equitable investment throughout the San Diego region. Cleantech San Diego focuses on a broad spectrum of clean technologies pertinent to the energy industry, including biorenewables, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, energy storage, microgrids, solar power, water management, and wind energy.

Through its various initiatives, Cleantech San Diego drives progress in critical areas such as smart cities development. This includes notable projects at Petco Park, the Chula Vista Bayfront, and the City of Carlsbad, alongside efforts at the Smart Port and San Diego International Airport. The organization also champions the expansion of electric vehicles, solar-to-EV integration, and net-zero living concepts, consistently working to accelerate the adoption of advanced energy solutions and sustainable practices across the region.
