Cory Group, established in 1896, has evolved into a leading waste management and recycling company in the UK, primarily serving London and the South East. The company leverages its extensive river-based infrastructure along the River Thames, extending from Wandsworth to Gravesend, to provide sustainable solutions for both recyclable and non-recyclable waste. This unique river logistics network is central to its operations, minimizing reliance on road transport for waste transportation.
Annually, Cory processes over 900,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste, a significant portion of which is transported by barges to its state-of-the-art Riverside facility in Belvedere. This facility is one of the largest Energy from Waste (EfW) plants in the UK, generating electricity for thousands of homes while diverting waste from landfill. Beyond energy generation, Cory actively processes recyclable materials, including dry mixed recyclables for local authorities, and extracts metals from the ash produced by its EfW process for further recycling.
Committed to sustainability, Cory is actively pursuing future growth initiatives such as the Riverside 2 Energy Park, the development of a Riverside Heat Network, and a significant Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project. These projects aim to further decarbonize its operations and contribute to the UK's net-zero targets. Additionally, the company provides essential ship repair services on the Thames through Cory Ship Repair Services, maintaining its own fleet and supporting other river-based operations.
