Overview The Department of Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) at NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA), a distinguished unit of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, high-quality education, and specialized community services within the broad field of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Established in 1993, DEEC plays a pivotal role in shaping future professionals and contributing to technological innovation.

Educational and Research Focus DEEC offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, structured in alignment with the Bologna Process, including Bachelor's (1st Cycle), Master's (2nd Cycle), and Doctoral (3rd Cycle) degrees. These programs encompass diverse specializations such as Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering, Communications and Information Engineering, Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, Aerospace Engineering, Digital Health Competencies, and critically, Renewable Energy Engineering. The department actively engages in fundamental and applied research, fostering intellectual growth and encouraging collaboration with industrial partners to drive innovation.

Research Centers and Contributions The department hosts prominent research centers that contribute significantly to various domains. The Center for Technology and Systems (CTS) focuses on fundamental and applied research, advanced training, knowledge dissemination, and technology transfer in core areas of Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering. Additionally, NOVA-IT, a branch of the Institute of Telecommunications (IT) based at DEEC, specializes in promoting research and innovation in wireless systems, networks and services, and information and data sciences. These centers are instrumental in fostering academic and professional development, ensuring DEEC's position at the forefront of engineering education and research, particularly in areas pertinent to power systems and the energy transition.
