Dravske elektrarne Maribor (DEM) is a leading electricity producer in Slovenia, significantly contributing to the nation's energy supply. The company operates a diverse portfolio of power generation assets primarily situated along the Drava River. This includes eight large hydroelectric power plants (HE Dravograd, HE Vuzenica, HE Vuhred, HE Ožbalt, HE Fala, HE Mariborski otok, HE Zlatoličje, and HE Formin), five smaller hydroelectric plants (MHE Ruše, MHE Melje, MHE Markovci, MHE Rogoznica, and MHE Ceršak), five solar power plants, and the Čentiba geothermal power plant. Additionally, DEM holds a 20% stake in the Golica pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant.
Collectively, DEM produces almost a quarter of all Slovenian electricity, with an average annual output of 2,800 GWh. Notably, 80% of this production adheres to renewable energy criteria and is certified by the internationally recognized RECS (Renewable Energy Certificates System), underscoring the company's commitment to sustainable energy. The total installed capacity across its power plants exceeds 600 MW.
DEM is actively engaged in developing future renewable energy solutions, with strategic projects such as the Rogatec Wind Power Plant (VE Rogatec) aiming to further increase green energy production in Slovenia. The Kozjak Pumped-Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant (ČHE Kozjak) on the Drava River is another key initiative, demonstrating the company's foresight in energy storage and grid stability. The company's operations are guided by core values including efficiency, reliability, flexibility, integrity, and a strong sense of environmental and social responsibility.
