E-magy specializes in developing and supplying innovative nano-porous silicon anode material, designed to significantly enhance high-energy lithium-ion batteries. Addressing a critical hurdle in electric vehicle (EV) adoption, the company's technology overcomes the traditional challenge of silicon's swelling and breakage during charging. While silicon offers up to ten times the capacity of graphite, its application has been limited by this expansion issue. E-magy's unique specialty silicon contains this expansion within its nanopores, a solution rigorously validated by leading research institutes such as ZSW.

This breakthrough enables the widespread use of high-energy silicon-dominant anodes, making them a practical reality for battery manufacturers globally. E-magy's material is engineered for seamless compatibility with existing battery production lines, presenting a low-risk, high-performance solution that is ready for industrial scale-up. The nano-porous silicon boosts battery performance by delivering 40% higher energy density (Wh/kg) and ensures negligible anode expansion, with tests demonstrating less than 5% pouch cell thickness variation after 100 cycles, even with an 80% weight silicon anode.

Committed to sustainability, E-magy utilizes abundantly available, environmentally benign upgraded metallurgical grade silicon and an efficient casting process, contributing to a low carbon footprint. Operating from a cutting-edge production facility near Amsterdam, The Netherlands, since 2013, the company currently has the capacity to produce up to 25 tons of nano-porous silicon annually, with process designs allowing for individual lines to scale to 300 tons per year. E-magy actively collaborates with numerous leading automotive and battery manufacturers, along with key European battery associations and consortia, to drive the industry forward towards a future of clean, electrically-powered mobility.
