EnergieSchweiz: Driving Switzerland's Energy Transition

EnergieSchweiz serves as the central federal platform dedicated to advancing energy efficiency and renewable energies across Switzerland. Established in 1991, the organization has consistently championed the implementation of Swiss energy policy and the ambitious Energy Strategy 2050, playing a pivotal role in shaping the nation's sustainable energy future.

Its core activities encompass comprehensive information dissemination, public awareness campaigns, and expert consulting services regarding renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures. EnergieSchweiz actively fosters innovative projects, provides essential training and continuing education programs for professionals in the energy sector, and ensures quality assurance and market testing for emerging technologies. This holistic approach supports the entire lifecycle of energy innovation, from concept to market penetration.

Working in close collaboration with cantons, municipalities, the business community, and other key partners, EnergieSchweiz develops targeted initiatives across critical sectors. These include enhancing building efficiency and promoting renewable energy adoption in private households, advocating for sustainable mobility solutions for both individuals and companies, and optimizing energy consumption in industrial and service sector facilities. These focus areas are particularly significant as they collectively account for 74% of Switzerland's final energy consumption.

EnergieSchweiz operates under the purview of the Federal Office of Energy (BFE) within the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). Its mandate is legally anchored in the Energy Act, with strategic direction provided by the 'EnergieSchweiz 2021-2030' commission. The program is crucial for facilitating the market breakthrough of new energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy concepts following initial research, development, and pilot phases.
