Freja Offshore AB is a key joint venture focused on the development, construction, and operation of floating offshore wind farms in Sweden. Established through a collaboration between Mainstream Renewable Power and Hexicon AB, the company leverages extensive global experience from offshore projects, including those in the North Sea, to drive a sustainable energy transition towards a fossil-free and climate-neutral Sweden. Utilizing the nation's expansive coastline, Freja Offshore addresses the rising electricity demand and the critical need to modernize Sweden's aging power infrastructure.

The company specializes in floating wind technology, enabling the placement of turbines far out at sea in deeper waters where wind conditions are more favorable—stronger and more consistent. This strategic positioning minimizes visual and auditory impact on coastal areas while significantly increasing energy generation efficiency, with single offshore turbines potentially producing several times more energy than land-based units. Freja Offshore is also committed to minimizing environmental footprints, conducting rigorous ecological assessments, and striving to enhance marine biodiversity within their operational zones.

Currently, Freja Offshore is developing the Mareld project, an ambitious offshore wind farm situated approximately 40 kilometers west of Orust. This project is projected to deliver between 9 and 12 TWh of renewable electricity annually, providing a substantial contribution equivalent to two-thirds of the current power consumption for the Västra Götaland region, bolstering Sweden's energy independence.

Beyond clean energy production, Freja Offshore is dedicated to generating positive economic impacts for local communities. Their projects are expected to create a wide array of direct and indirect job opportunities across various phases, from construction to long-term operational maintenance. By strengthening regional grids and fostering new industrial growth, the company aims to contribute to energy security, stabilize electricity prices, and support Sweden's broader green industrial transformation.
