FuelsEurope serves as a prominent representative body for approximately 40 fuel manufacturing companies, advocating their interests to European Union institutions. The organization plays a crucial role in the European energy landscape by providing high-quality, verified statistical data and analysis essential for economic and political decision-making, particularly concerning the decarbonization of the transport and heating sectors.

The association actively promotes the development and deployment of renewable and low-carbon fuels, viewing its industry as integral to achieving climate neutrality. FuelsEurope engages in policy advocacy, publishing recommendations on sustainable transport investment plans and addressing EU leaders on the strategic inclusion of the fuels industry in the Clean Industrial Deal. It also highlights the importance of decoupling heating and cooling strategies from electrification plans to ensure a balanced energy transition.

Through initiatives like the "More than a Manifesto: An Offer for Europe" campaign and the "Clean Fuels for All" platform, FuelsEurope champions a pathway to net climate-neutral liquid fuels for transport by 2050, encompassing aviation, maritime, and road transport. The organization tracks significant industry efforts, including the development of 47 low-carbon projects across Europe and an estimated investment of €400-650 billion required to scale low-carbon liquid fuel production to 150 Mtoe by 2050. It also provides tools such as the Heavy-Duty Vehicle CO2 Comparator, offering life-cycle assessments of GHG emissions.
