GGGI Cambodia, a country program of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), is an inter-governmental organization established in 2012 to foster green economic growth. Operating in Cambodia since 2012, GGGI integrates green growth priorities into national strategies and policies, focusing on sustainable urban development across energy efficiency, e-mobility, and waste management. The organization actively supports the Royal Government of Cambodia in accessing climate finance, stimulating demand for green technologies, and pioneering innovative sustainable finance mechanisms such as thematic bonds and carbon trading under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to attract crucial green investments.

In the energy sector, GGGI Cambodia has significantly contributed to the decarbonization of the garment, footwear, and travel goods (GFT) industry through energy efficiency projects, including the development of the Model Green Factory Program (MGFP) and an Advanced Diploma in Energy & Environmental Sustainability. The program is also a key driver in advancing electric mobility, facilitating policy development and investment mobilization that has led to the deployment of e-scooters and charging stations, often catalyzed by carbon financing. Furthermore, GGGI supports the advancement of Green Building Certification Systems and green investment pipelines to promote sustainable construction practices.

Beyond urban development and energy, GGGI Cambodia addresses methane reduction in the agriculture sector, linking these efforts to carbon financing opportunities. The organization plays a crucial role in Carbon Finance Leadership, assisting Cambodia in developing operational manuals for Article 6 projects and facilitating bilateral carbon trading. A core aspect of its work involves empowering local institutions, including government bodies and financial institutions, to independently develop and secure funding for large-scale climate adaptation and mitigation projects, exemplified by its support for GCF accreditation for local banks. Through these comprehensive initiatives, GGGI Cambodia aims to accelerate the nation's transition towards a greener, more sustainable future.
