Albanesi is a prominent Argentine business group with private capital, established in 1912. With over a century of experience in the local market, the group's core activities revolve around electric power generation and natural gas provision. It stands as the leading natural gas commercializer in Argentina, playing a critical role in the country's energy landscape.
The group operates an extensive portfolio of 10 state-of-the-art thermal power plants, strategically located across various Argentine provinces including Buenos Aires, Córdoba, La Rioja, Río Negro, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero, and Tucumán. Additionally, Albanesi has an international presence with a cogeneration plant in Talara, Peru. The company currently boasts an installed capacity of 1855 MW, with plans to expand this to approximately 2000 MW by the end of 2024, demonstrating its commitment to growth and energy supply.
Albanesi's involvement in the energy market dates back to 2004 with the acquisition of Central Térmica Luis Piedra Buena S.A., marking a significant step in its power generation objectives. Its subsidiary, Rafael G. Albanesi S.A., ensures a competitive advantage by supplying gas to the group's power plants not serviced by CAMMESA, thereby guaranteeing a stable fuel supply. The group's natural gas commercialization operations are substantial, accounting for over 10% of Argentina's total natural gas consumption, including transactions on the Electronic Market (MEGSA). In 2020, daily maximums reached 10,233,000 m3, representing 21.92% of the industrial segment's gas consumption and 4% of the system's transport capacity.
