INESC Microssistemas e Nanotecnologias (INESC MN) is a distinguished private, non-profit Research and Development institute, established in January 2002 from the former Solid State Technology group of INESC. Dedicated to pioneering advancements, INESC MN specializes in leading-edge research and development across strategic technological areas of micro- and nanotechnologies. Their expertise extends to applying these sophisticated technologies to a diverse range of devices, including electronic, photonic, biological, and biomedical systems.

The institute boasts state-of-the-art facilities, notably a Class 100/10 cleanroom, which is critical for nanoscale device fabrication. This cleanroom is equipped with advanced optical and e-beam lithography capabilities, enabling precision and innovation in its projects. INESC MN acts as a vital bridge between the academic sphere, particularly the Technical Engineering School (IST) in Lisbon, and a broad network of industrial partners worldwide.

Beyond research, INESC MN is committed to knowledge dissemination and professional development. It provides advanced training for undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students and researchers, fostering the next generation of scientific and engineering talent. Furthermore, the institute actively promotes technology transfer to both Portuguese and international industries.
