Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) is a 'Navratna' Government of India Enterprise operating under the administrative control of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Established in 1987 as a Non-Banking Financial Institution, IREDA plays a crucial role in the promotion, development, and financing of projects within the new and renewable sources of energy and energy efficiency/conservation sectors.

The agency is dedicated to extending financial assistance for a diverse range of renewable energy projects, including wind energy, solar energy, small hydro projects, biomass and cogeneration, waste-to-energy, ethanol production, and compressed biogas initiatives. IREDA offers substantial financial support, providing loans up to 90% of project costs and offering longer repayment periods, extending up to 25 years, tailored to specific sectors.

With vast experience in funding renewable energy projects, IREDA has significantly contributed to India's clean energy landscape. As of September 30, 2025, the agency has supported the installation of over 27.52 GW of renewable energy capacity, with cumulative sanctions amounting to Rs 271,063.41 Cr and disbursements totaling Rs 171,127.45 Cr. This demonstrates its pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of sustainable energy solutions and enhancing energy access across the nation.
