Light Up The World (LUTW) is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to providing sustainable energy solutions, primarily solar power, to remote communities that lack access to traditional power grids. Since its inception in 1997, LUTW has been instrumental in transitioning vulnerable communities away from unhealthy fuel sources to clean, renewable energy. This transformation not only creates healthier and safer home environments but also significantly enhances educational opportunities and stimulates economic development by increasing disposable income and fostering entrepreneurship.

The organization's impactful work spans 54 countries, reaching over 11,500 people across 94 communities by installing approximately 87 kWp of clean solar energy. Beyond direct installations, LUTW focuses on building local capacity through training and developing local service providers, ensuring long-term sustainability and empowering communities to manage their energy systems independently. Their projects often include providing internet access alongside electricity, further bridging the digital divide and supporting educational advancement.

LUTW actively engages individuals, corporations, and academic institutions in its mission. Through volunteer travel programs like the Empowerment Expedition and corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships, the organization facilitates hands-on experience in solar installations and infrastructure development. These collaborations are crucial for funding equipment, executing field projects, and ultimately expanding access to essential energy and connectivity, aligning with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including affordable and clean energy, quality education, good health, and reduced inequalities.
