The Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC) is an industry trade association founded in 2008, representing a broad spectrum of partners including exploration and production, midstream, and supply chain entities operating in the Appalachian Basin and across the United States. The coalition's primary focus is to address critical issues pertaining to the responsible and sustainable production of clean, job-creating, American natural gas derived from the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays.

MSC functions as a crucial informational hub, delivering in-depth data and insights to policymakers, regulators, media outlets, and other public stakeholders. This information highlights the significant positive impacts that responsible natural gas production has on families, businesses, and communities throughout the region. The coalition is committed to fostering an informed dialogue around energy policy and the role of natural gas in the nation's energy landscape.

Beyond advocacy, MSC supports initiatives such as United Shale Advocates (USA), an online community dedicated to advancing pro-growth, pro-environment, and pro-American-energy policies. The organization also hosts SHALE INSIGHT®, a leading conference that convenes energy experts and leaders to discuss advancements in shale development, environmental stewardship, pipeline infrastructure, and the resulting manufacturing and job opportunities. Through these efforts, MSC aims to educate the public on the entire shale process, from leasing and exploration to natural gas usage, while promoting the environmental and economic benefits of natural gas.
