Nachhaltigkeit.Ruhr is an open and informal network dedicated to fostering the sustainable transformation of the economy within the Ruhr region of Germany. It actively brings together a diverse group of companies, institutions, and individuals, including changemakers, entrepreneurs, activists, leaders, and experts, all committed to advancing sustainability initiatives across various sectors. This network serves as a vital platform for experience exchange and professional networking, enabling its members to collaborate, share insights, and collectively drive progress in sustainable development. The core belief is that major contemporary challenges, particularly the climate crisis, can only be effectively addressed through collaborative team efforts.

The organization facilitates engagement through various dynamic formats, most notably its monthly "Stammtisch" (regular meetups) and "Unkonferenz" (unconference) events. The Stammtisch provides a relaxed atmosphere for discussing specific sustainability topics, often featuring expert input and fostering collaborative discussions among participants. These regular gatherings are crucial for building community and sharing practical knowledge, ensuring that members stay informed and connected on current sustainability trends and solutions.

The Unkonferenz, designed to be non-hierarchical, encourages participants to co-create the agenda by contributing their challenges and solutions, thereby fostering collective dialogue on the path towards a more sustainable future for the Ruhr region. This innovative format ensures that discussions are highly relevant and driven by the real-world needs and expertise of the network's members. With a robust membership of over 160 individuals from 70 companies, Nachhaltigkeit.Ruhr actively supports its members in navigating and implementing sustainable practices, aiming to make a tangible impact on regional economic sustainability.
