Patras Science Park: Fostering Innovation and Technology in Greece

Patras Science Park (PSP) is a prominent Science and Technology Park in Greece, established in the early 1990s under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT). Initially an initiative of the Foundation for Research and Technology and the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (FORTH/ICE-HT), PSP evolved into an independent Public Limited Company in 2001, owned by the Greek Ministry of Finance. For over three decades, PSP has been a cornerstone in supporting the growth of innovative, technology-based companies, significantly contributing to the regional and national knowledge economy.

PSP actively nurtures innovation by providing a dynamic ecosystem for enterprises across various high-tech sectors. Its focus areas include Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), biotechnology, clean energy, and a diverse range of industrial technologies. The park offers comprehensive support to accelerate the development and commercialization of new ideas, serving as a critical hub for technological advancement.

PSP's activities encompass a wide array of projects and services designed to empower its community. Key initiatives include easyHPC, which applies supercomputing strategies for Industry 4.0, and EASYWASTE, a project dedicated to providing innovative waste management solutions for port environments. The park also runs a Proof of Concept grant program, supported by private donors, to help researchers and scientists transform their ideas into marketable products. Furthermore, PSP facilitates Innovation Hubs, operates a Technology Transfer Office to bridge academia and industry, and hosts the Greek Business Incubation Centre of CERN, fostering the application of CERN technologies in commercial ventures.

The park operates with a dedicated team, guided by a professional Board of Directors, ensuring adherence to the regulatory framework for public and limited companies. As a member of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), PSP maintains a strong connection to the global innovation landscape, reinforcing its commitment to advancing technology and economic development.
