Proxima Fusion is recognized as Europe's fastest-growing fusion company, dedicated to developing the first generation of stellarator fusion power plants. The company focuses on quasi-isodynamic (QI) stellarators, which it identifies as the most robust and clear pathway to integrating fusion energy into the electrical grid. Leveraging decades of research in magnetic confinement fusion, Proxima Fusion combines advancements in stellarator optimization, computational design, and high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology.

This innovative approach is built upon the expertise gained from the record-breaking W7-X stellarator at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). Proxima Fusion aims to lead Europe into a new era of clean, safe, and abundant energy by bringing commercial fusion to the forefront. Their roadmap includes the Stellaris Fusion Power Plant Concept, completion of a Stellarator Model Coil (SMC) by 2027, and an Alpha Demonstration Stellarator by 2031, culminating in the Stellaris Fusion Power Plant in the 2030s.
