Rechargion Energy is a pioneering deep-tech startup and an official spin-off from the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) in Pune, India. Structured as a dynamic, cross-border India-UK company, it is dedicated to the research, development, and manufacture of next-generation sustainable, affordable, and green energy storage solutions, primarily focusing on Sodium-ion (Na-ion) and Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) rechargeable batteries.

The company's core innovation lies in its advanced Na-ion battery technology, which features a proprietary hard carbon anode and symmetrical aluminum-aluminum current collector structure. This offers significant advantages over traditional Li-ion batteries, including zero-voltage storage/transportation, faster charging, a wider operating temperature range, enhanced thermal stability, improved storage capacity, and better cyclability. By leveraging sodium's ubiquitous abundance and cost-effectiveness, Rechargion's Na-ion technology aims to mitigate issues of scarcity, import dependence, and high costs associated with lithium, nickel, and cobalt, thereby fostering energy "Self-Reliance" with an end-to-end domestic supply chain for raw materials and battery cell manufacturing, particularly beneficial for markets like India.

In addition to Na-ion, Rechargion Energy is also actively advancing Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) battery technology. Li-S systems are being developed for their extremely high theoretical gravimetric energy density, holding disruptive potential for specific high-performance applications such as aviation and space. The company offers a range of products, including NaBh10, NaBh06, and NaBh02, reflecting its commitment to delivering safer, sustainable, and higher-performing battery solutions for diverse clean energy requirements.
