The core of Renaissance Fusion's technology lies in its unique application of High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) magnets and liquid metal shields. This involves a multi-step process for coil construction: direct deposition of HTS coils where large surfaces are coated with superconducting films, followed by direct patterning using laser ablation to create intricate 1D/2D coils. These patterned cylinders are then assembled into a toroidal array to generate the complex 3D magnetic fields characteristic of a stellarator.

Furthermore, Renaissance Fusion integrates flowing liquid metals around these cylinders, which serves the dual purpose of efficient neutron shielding and heat extraction, crucial for the safe and sustained operation of fusion reactors. Operating as the first magnetic confinement fusion start-up in continental Europe, the company benefits from a rich ecosystem of talent, labs, and universities, notably influenced by the presence of ITER in the region.
