About Rentel

Rentel is a significant offshore wind concession situated in the Belgian North Sea, playing a crucial role in the nation's renewable energy infrastructure. This state-of-the-art offshore wind farm was meticulously developed, built, and is currently operated by Otary, a distinguished joint venture comprising eight specialized Belgian companies dedicated to renewable energy. These entities have synergistically combined their extensive experience and technical expertise to foster a sustainable future through advanced energy generation solutions.

The Rentel project, strategically positioned approximately 40 kilometers north of Otary's headquarters in Ostend, stands as a pivotal achievement, being the fifth offshore wind initiative successfully realized in the Belgian North Sea. It significantly contributes to the region's energy security and environmental goals, demonstrating advanced capabilities in large-scale offshore wind power generation. The power station is equipped with 42 cutting-edge SiemensGamesa 7.0-154 wind turbines, enabling it to achieve a maximum installed capacity of 309 MW.

Since becoming fully operational in November 2018, the Rentel offshore wind farm has consistently delivered clean, renewable electricity, capable of powering approximately 300,000 Belgian households annually. This substantial capacity underscores its vital contribution to meeting national energy demands and advancing environmental sustainability objectives. Through its robust operation, Rentel exemplifies successful industry collaboration in harnessing vast offshore wind resources for a greener and more resilient energy future.
