Sadoway Labs Foundation is a scientific research nonprofit dedicated to advancing industrial electrification and decarbonization through extreme electrochemical (XE) technologies. Operating as an idea factory and science lab, the foundation develops clean technology solutions designed to shape the future of industry and support a transition to a carbon-free economy. Their innovative approach focuses on electrifying industrial processes, reducing fossil-fuel dependence, and strengthening supply-chain resilience.

The foundation's portfolio of XE technologies addresses critical challenges in hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, aluminum, and automotive. These advanced electrochemical reactions, often performed in non-aqueous molten salt systems above 1000°F, provide next-generation solutions for emissions reduction, the transformation of critical minerals into clean metals, and grid-integrated clean energy systems. Key areas of research and innovation include sustainable energy storage, carbon capture and utilization, clean metals production (including rare earth metals), and metal recycling.

Sadoway Labs Foundation collaborates with industry partners to accelerate the commercialization of electrochemical reactors and plants, offering cost-effective pathways for industrial energy transition. They provide technology licensing opportunities, sponsored research projects, and a subscription model for early access to innovations. Founded by Donald R. Sadoway, PhD, a renowned professor emeritus at MIT, the lab is committed to pioneering a new non-profit model for accelerating practical solutions for high-impact emissions reductions, while also prioritizing education to fill the knowledge gap in extreme electrochemistry.
