The Saskatchewan First Nations Natural Resource Centre of Excellence (Centre of Excellence) is dedicated to empowering First Nation communities across Saskatchewan by fostering sustainable and environmentally responsible development of natural resources within their lands and Indigenous territories. Established in 2009, the Centre acts as a crucial support system, equipping First Nations with essential tools, business expertise, and industry guidance for long-term success and advancement in the energy and resource sector.

The Centre's efforts encompass a wide array of resource opportunities, including traditional areas like Oil & Gas and Mining (such as Uranium, Potash, Gold, and Diamonds), as well as renewable energy sources like Wind and Solar Power. By promoting innovative and culturally sensitive development practices, it helps communities capitalize on these opportunities while adhering to principles of sustainability. Furthermore, the Centre actively supports initiatives designed to increase the engagement of First Nations individuals in business, educational, and employment programs specifically tailored for the energy and resource industries.

A key component of its strategy involves developing meaningful and collaborative relationships among First Nations, industry partners, educational institutions, and all levels of government. This collaborative approach aims to build a prosperous future by facilitating the sustainable economic development of First Nation communities. The Centre also offers innovative platforms like EXPORT, a comprehensive skills inventory and business registration database, designed to connect and promote First Nation human and business resources with opportunities across Saskatchewan and Canada, thereby enhancing connectivity and economic participation.
