The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), established in 1974, is a prominent global institution dedicated to fostering sustainability through interdisciplinary research and action. Initially focused on documentation and information dissemination, TERI evolved with a core conviction that the efficient utilization of energy and sustainable use of natural resources are fundamental drivers of development. As the largest developing-country institution of its kind, TERI's activities span from formulating local and national strategies to devising global solutions for critical environmental challenges.

Leveraging over five decades of excellence in research and innovation, TERI operates with a global vision yet maintains a local focus, advocating for enterprise across government, industry, and individual actions to achieve sustainability. Its extensive thematic areas include sustainable agriculture, climate change, various facets of energy (electricity & fuels, energy access, energy efficiency, renewable energy), environment (air, forest & biodiversity, land, microbes, waste, water), sustainable habitat (buildings, cities, transport), health & nutrition, and resource efficiency and security.

TERI actively engages in a diverse range of projects, from developing roadmaps for fleet electrification and promoting women-led entrepreneurship in clean cooking solutions in rural areas, to pioneering solar-biomass hybrid drying systems with thermal energy storage for tribal communities. Furthermore, it conducts crucial research on topics such as climate change and health impacts in the Indo-Pacific region. Through its comprehensive approach, TERI aims to drive just, inclusive, and science-backed climate action, bridging the gap between ambition and tangible implementation across various sectors.
