The Independent Power Producers of New York, Inc. (IPPNY) is a leading trade association representing New York State's diverse electric generation fleet. Its members are crucial providers of over 75 percent of New York's power, utilizing a broad spectrum of fuel sources including wind, solar, hydro, energy storage, natural gas, low sulfur oil, waste-to-energy, biomass, and nuclear. These resources collectively ensure the reliability of the electric system and support the state's economy.

IPPNY actively advocates for fair and efficient competition among wholesale and retail electricity suppliers, encompassing all competitive electric resources such as renewables, fossil-fueled plants, nuclear power, demand response providers, and conservation technologies. The association champions fair government oversight to foster new generation, ethical business practices, and environmental stewardship, aiming to enhance supply reliability and competition within New York and the broader region. Furthermore, IPPNY is committed to upholding existing and future contractual and regulatory agreements, promoting open and non-discriminatory access to utility transmission and distribution systems at fair, cost-reflective rates. It also facilitates consensus-building among public and private sector stakeholders in competitive electric markets and supports its members in meeting customer needs, demonstrating that independent power facilities are reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally sound.
