Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is a federal department of the Government of Canada dedicated to improving the well-being and prosperity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Its primary mandate is to foster systemic change in the delivery of federal services, transitioning their design, planning, management, and provision to Indigenous control. This involves enhancing consistency and quality, bolstering accountability to Indigenous communities, adopting a distinctions-based approach, and cultivating robust partnership models.

ISC focuses on five key priority areas crucial for holistic community development. These include improving health outcomes through comprehensive healthcare services and non-insured health benefits, ensuring quality education with elementary, secondary, and post-secondary programs tailored for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Nation students, and promoting family and child well-being through social programs like Jordan's Principle and family violence prevention.

Furthermore, the department is committed to developing reliable infrastructure within Indigenous communities, encompassing housing, water and wastewater systems, schools, roads, and waste management facilities. It also works towards establishing a new fiscal relationship, aiming for sufficient, predictable, and sustained funding for First Nations communities, alongside supporting community economic development through Indigenous business programs and land management strategies. ISC provides essential resources for emergency management and environmental protection, ensuring communities can prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from various incidents while developing their natural resources responsibly.
