The International Bar Association (IBA), established in 1947, stands as the preeminent global organization for international legal practitioners, bar associations, and law societies. With a membership exceeding 80,000 individual lawyers and over 190 bar associations across 170 countries, the IBA plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the legal profession and influencing the development of international law reform worldwide. It provides considerable expertise and support to the global legal community.

The Association is structured into two primary divisions: the Legal Practice Division and the Public and Professional Interest Division. These divisions encompass all practice areas and professional interests, facilitating an essential interchange of information and views among members on global business law practices, legal responsibilities, and laws. Through various committees and sections, the IBA offers members access to leading experts and up-to-date information, fostering professional development and network-building opportunities via its high-quality publications and world-class conferences.

A key component of the IBA's outreach is its Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI), which actively promotes, protects, and enforces human rights under a just rule of law. The IBAHRI also works diligently to preserve the independence of the judiciary and the legal profession globally.
