The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) is a prominent Irish state body responsible for a comprehensive suite of asset and liability management services for the Government of Ireland. Its primary mandate involves the expert management of Ireland's National Debt, ensuring financial stability and prudent fiscal operations on behalf of the State and its citizens.

Beyond debt management, the NTMA plays a crucial role in overseeing and controlling significant national investment vehicles. This includes the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF), which is dedicated to commercial investments to support economic activity and employment in Ireland, as well as the Future Ireland Fund (FIF) and the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund (ICNF), which are designed to address long-term national strategic objectives.

Furthermore, the NTMA performs vital statutory functions through several key agencies. These encompass the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA), which provides financial advice to public bodies on infrastructure projects; the State Claims Agency (SCA), responsible for managing personal injury and property damage claims against the State; and the New Economy and Recovery Authority (NewERA), which advises on the commercial oversight of certain State companies. The agency also extends its operational support by assigning staff and providing essential business services and systems to other critical bodies such as the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA), the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI), and Home Building Finance Ireland (HBFI), thereby facilitating their respective mandates in national economic development and financial stability.
