Environmental Commitment and Major Projects OPG's commitment extends to ambitious environmental goals, aiming to become a net-zero company by 2040 and enabling a net-zero economy by 2050. A landmark achievement in this regard was the cessation of coal-fired electricity generation in 2014, marking one of the world’s most impactful climate actions. Current major projects include the refurbishment and upgrades of its hydro fleet, as well as the comprehensive refurbishment of both the Darlington and Pickering Nuclear Generating Stations, securing decades of clean, low-cost power.

Global Presence and Collaborative Efforts Furthermore, OPG's operations extend beyond Ontario, with its subsidiary, Eagle Creek Renewable Energy, owning and operating 85 hydroelectric stations across 18 states in the United States.
