South Asia Regional Infrastructure Connectivity (SARIC) is a significant initiative funded by the Australian Government, specifically designed to foster robust economic linkages, regional prosperity, and inclusive growth across South Asia. The program is strategically focused on enhancing and expanding high-quality, socially inclusive connectivity infrastructure within the vital energy and transport sectors. SARIC's geographical scope encompasses Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, addressing the diverse infrastructural needs of these nations.

Collaborative Development and Capacity Building

SARIC operates through a collaborative partnership model, working closely with leading global institutions such as the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This collaboration is instrumental in assisting host governments throughout the region to identify, prepare, and advance a pipeline of critical transport and energy projects. These projects are structured to be eligible for both public and private financing, ensuring sustainable development and connectivity across the economies of South Asia.

The Training and Networking Services (SARIC TNS) component, expertly managed by Palladium, plays a crucial role in the initiative. It delivers targeted and curated capacity-building interventions for professionals and institutions across the public, private, and academic sectors within the infrastructure domain. Training programs cover a wide array of topics pertinent to the energy and transport industries, including Disaster Management and Resilient Infrastructure, Dam Safety Principles, Renewable Energy, Green Hydrogen Studies, Regional Power Markets, Road Safety Management, and Digitalization of Supply Chains and Logistics. These initiatives are complemented by networking opportunities designed to cultivate an ecosystem of engaged energy and transport sector peers, fostering regional collaboration and shared learning.

Cross-Cutting Themes and Sustainable Impact

Integral to SARIC's approach are its cross-cutting themes, particularly Gender, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Climate Change Resilience. These themes underscore the Australian Government's commitment to ensuring that development engagements are socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable. By integrating GEDSI principles, SARIC strives to empower underrepresented groups, such as women in the energy sector, and promote equitable participation.
