Illinois Green Alliance is a membership-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting green buildings and fostering sustainable communities across Illinois. For over two decades, the alliance has served as a pivotal community for green building professionals, actively working to educate, advocate, and dismantle barriers to the widespread adoption of high-performance buildings throughout the state. The organization firmly believes that robust green infrastructure is fundamental to strengthening neighborhoods and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.

To achieve its vision, Illinois Green Alliance focuses on three core initiatives: Green Building Education, Existing Buildings Programs, and Green Building Policy. Through its educational programs, it convenes diverse professional stakeholders to advance the latest technologies and design trends, offering nearly 75 programs annually. Its Existing Buildings Programs, including the Building Energy Resource Hub and Illinois Green Schools Project, provide essential support to demonstrate how all building types can transition towards net-zero energy. Furthermore, the alliance actively engages in policy advocacy, amplifying the voices of green building professionals to influence and support major climate legislation, such as energy benchmarking policies, thereby removing technical and policy roadblocks to net-zero adoption. This comprehensive approach aims to make net-zero buildings feasible, affordable, and commonplace in Illinois by 2050.
